Hello MTES Students and Families,

Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year!  It’s an exciting time to be an MT Panther and we look forward to another successful school year with our returning Panther family and our newest Miami Trace Panthers!

Within our school, we have a dedicated staff who strive each day to create a climate of joy, kindness, and love for our students.  Our staff at MTES is truly exceptional, and it’s a blessing to know our community has such great people working with our students.  At MTES, the commitment to educating the whole child is central to creating a safe and enriching learning environment.  Our staff utilizes research-based instructional strategies and focuses on the individual needs of each student, ensuring that all students can reach their full potential.  I am grateful to work alongside a dedicated staff and to witness the positive impact that they have on the lives of students and families.

To our community members and stakeholders – thank you!  Your ongoing partnerships and collaboration we share in Fayette County connect local businesses and community members to make our district so unique and so fortunate.  I invite and welcome our parents, guardians, and stakeholders to become active participants in the educational process that occurs day to day in our school.  Through collaborative efforts, we can all make a difference in the life of a child and positively impact our community.  I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and your family!

Hi Panther Families!  My name is Sunny Cummings and I feel incredibly blessed to be working with your children as an Assistant Principal at Miami Trace Elementary.

After 20 years of being a 2nd grade teacher, I stepped into a new adventure as an Assistant Principal at MTES. Each year, I have loved interacting and supporting our youngest Panthers throughout their educational journey. Our amazing staff members love and support our students each and every day, and they encourage them to strive to be their very best.  I truly believe that it takes an entire TEAM of people to help shape every child into the unique and special individual that they are.

To our families and Fayette County community members, thank you so much for all of your continued support of our educational processes and district events.  As a Miami Trace graduate myself, I know that the Panther Spirit runs deep - Once a Panther, Always a Panther!  We will continue to work hard to put the needs of your students first to create and maintain an energetic, positive environment that cultivates life-long learning.  If I can be of any assistance to your child or your family throughout the year, please do not hesitate to contact me at (740) 333-2306 or by email at scummings@mtpanthers.org.

Let’s have another great year!  Go Panthers!
